Why is training important?

To become a well-adjusted member of his or her new pack your puppy needs to learn his place. Although you may not be planning on entering him or her in the National Obedience Trials, training helps you to learn how your young puppy thinks. You and all your family members need to understand how to avoid potential problems such as destructive, aggressive or over protective behaviour.

Some anxiety problems in adult dogs can be related to problems with this fundamental connection between owner and animal, so it is important to establish the best possible relationship from the beginning.

Puppy classes are a good way to start and are often held in veterinary practices. Further basic and advanced training classes are held in many suburbs and are enjoyable for both owner and pet.
