Background to funding, and criteria for awarding a grant.
PEDIGREE® is making a donation for items sold from the PEDIGREE® range all year long. The purpose of the donation is to raise funds to provide support for rescue and welfare organisations which care for and re-home dogs, whether they are pure-bred or cross-breed.
PEDIGREE® has established a charity, with Trustees to administer this scheme, and to award grants, with the assistance of advisors experienced in the canine welfare sector. One of the Trust's objects is to 'Help relieve the suffering of dogs who are in need of care and attention and in particular to encourage the provision of facilities for the reception and care of unwanted dogs and the treatment of sick or ill-treated dogs'.
Applications are invited from rescue and other canine welfare bodies to be received by the Trust by no later than 15th of August each year. Receipt of the application will be acknowledged, and the outcome of the Trustees' deliberations will be notified to each applicant in due course.
It is expected that summaries of PEDIGREE® donations, and of grants awarded, will be featured in press titles, and elsewhere on www.pedigree.co.nz.
The Trustees, and their advisors, will consider every application providing it is received by 5pm 15th of August each year. They intend to take into consideration the information requested on the Application Form; the 'value for money' provided by the organisation, in terms of low administration costs and the cost of re-homing dogs; the financial standing and need of the organisation; and any reputation which the applicant may have. It is possible that a visit to an applicant's premises may be requested or a third party reference required.
Awards are likely to range from a few hundred to a few thousand dollars. It is unlikely that building costs will be funded.
